Our Services
Health and Dining is led by Ben and Clare, a husband and wife team offering services in many aspects of the food, nutrition and fitness industries.
Our Health Services
I have a passionate interest in both fitness and health, which is why I studied and qualified as a Nutritional Therapist and Personal Fitness instructor, two areas that go hand in hand. I can offer tailored nutrition and fitness programs to suit clients and their goals. Nutritional Therapy and Fitness Training can both be face to face and online.
Nutritional Therapy
I offer individual consultations to patients who would like to improve their health through changes in their eating habits. We have seen results in a variety of clients ranging from teens to 70’s and as everyone is unique everyone has to define their own conformable changes. “Clare has a great understanding and empathy with her clients, which is why her supportive nature encourages clients to make the changes they need’’.
I can help to re-educate and encourage eating habits aimed at achieving optimum health. Also from the analysis any current health concerns can be addressed and follow up advice is offered. Nutritional therapy maybe ongoing until the client feels confident to carry it on. Support is always available.
Nutritional Work with other chefs/kitchen teams in private homes or restaurants:
Liaise with the chef to understand the existing diet of the client and the needs/goals
Take weekly menus and thoroughly break the food/recipes down into calories and macronutrient quantities using up to date software for thorough breakdown. Put into excel/ spreadsheets/online folders for easy access to nutritional data.
Offer nutritional changes /alternatives to current dietary ingredients if necessary.
Advise and support the chef and /or client.
Offer bio hacks for health purposes (easy tricks to increase the nutritional value of a meal).
Offer continued online support.
Personal Training
Every intended exercise goal can be met, whether it is improve your fitness, lose weight, training for a specific event or motivation.
Together we can put together a program to meet goals realistically, and put the plan into action, establish markers to track progress and give further motivation. A training strategy doesn’t have to be the same from day to day, changing programs in the sessions can make the exercises challenging but also fun! Having fun is a key element to successful training!
Training can be done to suit your lifestyle, including online, in your home, outdoors or at the gym. Changing the environments adds to the challenge of a good workout.
What kind of work outs can one expect? Depending on the frequency of the sessions, a 1 hour slot can involve the following depending on the proposed training plan, the fitness level and the end goal. The following is just a list of ideas
Group Training
We also offer group training sessions for classes up to 5 people.
Alternatively, we have a bootcamp timetable which is a great way to make new friends and work out within a motivational environment.
Nutritional Consultations
In advance of your first nutritional therapy consultation, you will be asked to fill in a comprehensive health questionnaire, which includes your goals, current health status and symptoms, lifestyle and a 7-day food diary. This questionnaire will need to be returned prior to the first consultation for preliminary analysis to ensure your time in the initial consultation is effectively used.
During the initial consultation, the questionnaire is used as a basis for further investigation to help gain full understanding of your nutritional requirements and potential imbalances. Based on your health goals, a personalised protocol will be constructed to include diet, supplement (where /if necessary) and lifestyle recommendations, and if needed, appropriate diagnostic functional tests.
From this initial consultation, I hope to give you the confidence and knowledge to make food choices in support of your health goals; and I can provide recipe ideas that suit your taste preferences, cooking skills and lifestyle. Follow-up consultations after 4 weeks are recommended and are crucial for feedback and to help you reach goal in the long term and sustain them, as they are used to monitor your progress. These follow ups are also used to discuss any test results and review your plan– providing adjustments where necessary.
Diagnostic Functional Tests are useful to determine nutritional imbalances and deficiencies and may be critical for evaluating and devising an appropriate nutrition plan. A test will typically involve a breath, blood, saliva, urine or stool sample. The majority of samples can be taken at home but a client may occasionally be asked to attend the laboratory to provide samples.
I work together with York Test Laboratories who provide comprehensive Food Intolerance Tests.
